Desert thistle sage, Salvia carduacea, is an annual member of the sage family, and is just gorgeous! It is found at elevations below 4500 feet in Joshua Tree Woodland and Creosote Bush scrub communities. It has a wonderful, "sagey" aroma, and is sought out by native pollinators. Leave it to complete its life cycle to allow re-seeding.
