Black Sage (Salvia mellifera) is a fragrant California native perennial shrub, found in many of the mountain ranges surrounding the Mojave Desert. It thrives in poor soils, may reach a size of 5 feet high and wide, and is a dense, rounded shrub. It bears a light lavender to white flowers. Attracts birds, butterflies and hummingbirds.
