Salvia columbariae, Desert Chia is yet another Mojave Desert native. Do not confuse this with "chia-pet" chia, which is a different species.
It is most often found in sandy washes and on dry hillsides.
It will tolerate hot, dry conditions once established, and re-seeds itself easily.
