Geraea canescens, Desert Sunflower is usually an annual, but sometimes acts like a perennial plant, living for more than one season. It produces gorgeous flowers in areas below 3,000 feet in the Mojave Desert. This is one of the flowers blanketing the lower elevations of Death Valley with a beautiful bright yellow carpet during the "hundred year bloom." If left to complete its life cycle, it should re-seed itself. Extremely drought tolerant once established.
